Flight 1 (7 notes)

White - Sparkling
1998 Deutz Champagne Cuvée William Deutz France, Champagne
93 points
Rich, nutty, mature Chardonnay, lovely minerality, tightly knit, excellent freshness and typical 1998 acidity, intense, elegant and balanced. Long.
White
2011 Symington Douro Altano Branco Portugal, Douro
86 points
50% Malvazia Fina, 50% Moscatel. Fresh, floral, passion fruit, fragrant, moscatel grapiness, uncomplicated, attractive.
Red
2004 Prats and Symington Douro Chryseia Portugal, Douro
91 points
Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. Sweet and dusty at the same time, port-like, almost overripe fruit, raisins, currants, plums, spices; on the palate fresh and relatively dry, very good intensity; slightly hot finish but very good length. A bit unknit. Unsure about its future.
Red - Fortified
2000 Dow Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
94 points
Mainly from the Quinta Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta do Bomfim. Young, substantial, very typical Dow style, elegant, energetic, floral, long, classic, lovely fruit, wonderful ripe tannic structure. Drink 2015 - 2040.

Red - Fortified
1994 Quinta do Vesuvio Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
94 points
Starting to show some maturity, rich and plummy, typically rich 1994-fruit, concentrated, warm but not hot, showing well. Drink now - 2030.
Red - Fortified
1970 Graham Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
95 points
Remarkably deep and lively colour for a 42 year old wine; rich, sweet, excellent depth, touch of oak, slightly spirity, classic 1970 structure, still a hint of plumminess, complete, will last for a very long time. Drink now - 2030+.
Red - Fortified
1963 Warre Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
94 points
From magnum. Light and mature colour; quite closed on the nose, powdery, vestiges of fruit; on the palate fresh and energetic, typical citrus flavours (tangerine), extremely elegant; good length. A delicate wine of great finesse. Not as expressive as the bottle tasted in 2008 though.
