Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2010 Kahurangi Sauvignon Blanc Nelson New Zealand, South Island, Nelson
Classic gooseberry nose and positively leaps out of the glass. Lots of gooseberry on the palate too with quite a firm core. Just a little over-the-top though; practically fruit juice.
White
2010 Steinschaden Riesling Selektion Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal
Pale gold colour. Palate is packed with lots of lovely citrus flavours. Bone dry.
White
2007 Kahurangi Dry Riesling New Zealand, South Island, Nelson
Starting to develop some classic kerosene aromas. Quite a firm palate with citrus and green apple flavours to the fore. Very pure and precise and 'old world' in style. My favourite of the white wines on show here.
Red
2009 Domaine Sigaux Brouilly Les Quartelets France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Brouilly
Light crimson colour almost to the rim. Some earth and beetroot on the nose. Light-bodied with barely there tannins. Lovely. Benefits from chilling.
Red
2010 Bodegas Valdesil Mencía Valdeorras Valderroa Spain, Galicia, Valdeorras
Light to medium bodied and unoaked, I think. Lovely pure fruit with strawberry flavours dominant. Could easily pass for a pinot if tasted blind and GV at <£10. Beautiful.
