Introduction

1989 is one of these vintages where i nearly never had a bad bottle, so i was excited to taste thrugh some lesser and better known wines...

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Red
1989 Château Larose-Trintaudon France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
78 points
Little metallic, relatively short but still some classic bordeaux notes left. Drink up! But still drinkable
Red
1989 Domaine de Beychevelle France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur
82 points
Real nice surprise, theres some true joy left in that bottle, obviously way less concentrated than the higher ranked sibilings from the same vintage but still very good for what it is. Some oer ripe cherries and loads of licorice
Red
1989 Château La Gurgue France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
90 points
Cassis, like a chilenean cabernet, a little agressive but with a very powerful palate i really liked this, also when going back after the other wines
Red
1989 Château La Louvière France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
93 points
What a wine, truly spectacular and just a perfect 'graves'. Still some fruit left, herbs, leather, cedar wood, fantastic!
Red
1989 Château Haut-Batailley France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
83 points
Ts was over the hill, despite being a very well stored bottle. Also there were quite a bit of unclean notes, not sure whats going on with this wine. Ut wouldnt bet on that horse...
Red
1989 Château Cantemerle France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
93 points
I absolutely ahve to agee with 'le fouloir' - This is a wonderful mature Bordeaux. It was complex beyond its original price...

It's so creamy and round loads of fruit very sweet and with perfectly stored bottles i give this wine another 40 (!) years potential.
Red
1989 Château de Fieuzal France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
88 points
Let me start by saying that im a huge fan of their whites and pretty indifferent to their reds (despite being owned by an irish guy)

Cinammon, nutmeg, leather, cigarnbox, tobacco, all classic bordeaux jotes, but compared to la louviere this is miles behind...
