White
1997 Bouchard Père et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
92 points
Popped and poured. Dark golden color. Lush, ripe peach aromas with tropical and oak hints. Same fruit flavors. At a very good place now, but fresher than you should expect from a 1997 today. Long and persistent, ripe on finish, even if just modestly nuanced. Better with more air.
White
2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Charlemagne Domaine France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
91 points
Ripe peach aromas with lots of power, still showing some new oak that needs to integrate. Ripe apple and peach flavors with lots of fat, powerful character. Dense, big fruit with an ever-so-slight bitter edge on finish. Better 2014 or later.
White
1992 Domaine Jacques Prieur Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
93 points
Dark color. Ripe apple aromas with both some mature and sweet hints. Big-scaled and powerful on palate, picking up complexity and density with more time in glass. Great ripe fruit throughout, with some elegant spice emerging on finish. Better than another bottle from a few months ago.
White
2000 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
Lemon, apple aromas with background spice. Lean and elegant palate with some nut butter hints I really like. Moderate length and intensity, this is a finesse-driven Meursault Charmes.
Red
1995 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
91 points
Plum aromas with rich spice. Plum and black currant flavors, dense and meaty on palate. Good balance start to finish, with some firmness emerging at end. Will continue to improve with more time in cellar.
Red
1995 Château Cheval Blanc France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
An unusual bottle, more advanced than another from last year. Cassis, plum, black cherry aromas, well framed with new oak to start. Same fruit flavors to start, moderate density and length, but the wine became shorter and less fresh after about 2 hours in galss. Perhaps 90 points when first tasted, then 89 or 90 points several hours later.
Red
1989 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Briefly decanted before serving. Great perfume and spice to start, accompanied by exciting black fruit aromas. Dense plum flavors but not very forward or forthcoming. More tannic than expected, also rather compact, possibly shut down? Although i haven't had this wine in several years, the flavors weren't as interesting as I recall from before.
Red
1995 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
92 points
Plum, cassis , lots of spice giving a slightly sweet touch. Some interesting barnyard hints. Dense on palate, very good balance. Elegant tannins throughout.
