The nose is a bit reductive at first, but transitions to a palate of great clarity and nice chiseled sides, with clear fruit, white flowers and seashells, and is bright and fresh. This has excellent clarity, balance and poise and goes down very, very easy. Has the backbone to cellar and will likely fill out and broaden.

Less chiseled than the 2008 Fevre Montee, with fuller, somewhat plumper white orchard fruit, along with a hint of Michel wool. This is showing typical L. Michel ‘08, i.e., good fruit, good acidity, and a rounder and slightly softer exterior than the Fevre. Very nice.

Clear fruit, with more overt wood than the 2008 Louis Michel Montee and 2008 Fevre Montee that preceeded this Montee, especially after some air, but while the wood is overt, it is acceptable. Palate shows some spice and lots of energy. This is bolder and more effusive, whereas the Fevre is more cool stream and Michel is more fleshy white fruit.
This was from a recent arrival (from TCWC) and had a different label, which I understand to be Dagueneau-inspired, than an earlier tranche from a couple of years ago.

Plummy, dark fruit with hues on the palate from red fruit to purple, still very fresh, but has lost some of the brightness and higher tones than a bottle some six months ago. I love Roberto Conterno's Barberas. Their purity is really something special. But, I do not believe them to be especially long-term wines, and their freshness and brightness should be enjoyed young.

Just lovely, great perfume on the nose. Palate has a core of red fruit that still shows good focus, along with textbook Nebbiolo roses, tar and earthy notes. Shows a much higher class than a simple Village wine, and has more than endured, it has aged gracefully and is just beautiful.

Bottle # 2081. Brooding, showing much darker plummy fruit than Nebbiolo red, with softer tannins and some dark liquorice notes, but also showing a bit of a roasted aspect, causing me to suspect some heat damage along the way.
