Introduction

Champagne Tasting for Modernize Wine Fundraiser

Flight 1 - Blanc de Blanc (5 notes)

White - Sparkling
1997 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
90 points
On the Nose you get what 10years on Lee's will give you Rich Nuts, Hazelnut, opening up with Coffee/Mocha/Toffee Nut
On to the Palate, Creamy, Tangy, Nuts, Warm fruit with a nice backbone of bitterness
Finish is Long and Delicate and Understated

Conc: This wine has aged notes which are awesome to smell on the palate I found it to be underwhelming then knowing who this is and what it costs I just dont see the value [At the end of the day how much of this is Marketing and Name, that being Said My type of Champagnes are Farmer Fizzez]
White - Sparkling
N.V. Champagne Lallier Champagne Grand Cru Zero Dosage France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
85 points
Sweet Elderberry Nose, Intense Grape flavor off Balance Bitterness

Conc: Just did not like the balance of this

Mineral, FLint, toast, Floral which is what I wrote down on the palate much better balance with a good spice quality to it also
White - Sparkling
N.V. Ruinart Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
87 points
Muted Nose, on the Palate has the create Intensity and also youthful

Conc: I enjoyed this even tho maybe a touch one dimensional
White - Sparkling
N.V. Jose Dhondt Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
89 points
"Ain't No Party Like a Dhondt Party"
Pretty Floral Note, Good Solid Champagne and ENjoyable, my only knock against it would be the fact the dosage comes across a touch to sweet to make it perfectly balanced

Flight 2 (8 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Serveaux Fils Champagne Cuvée Pinot Meunier France, Champagne
91 points
Excellent Bubbles, and yet so different, it is one of those Bubbles that truly could be served as a wine, decant it remove the bubbles and this would taste just as good, It has that fleshy fruit I find from Pinot Meunier Plums.

Conc: Paired beautifully with the duck, and I would buy this again and drink again for sure. Also Malo was blocked and its creamy rich fleshy
White - Sparkling
N.V. Champagne Lallier Champagne Grand Cru Grande Réserve France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
85 points
Elderberry tasting fruit

Conc: Not my style of Fruit profile
White - Sparkling
N.V. Gosset Champagne Brut Excellence France, Champagne
Solid Wine, Also See my last tasting note on this it holds up among the champagnes that's for sure

White - Sparkling
N.V. Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Cuvée No. 735 France, Champagne
Interesting Nose, Touch Vegetal in a good way, but this needs time, it comes across as youthful and needs 3-5years bottle age

Conc: I would buy some myself and lay down
White - Sparkling
N.V. Bollinger Champagne Special Cuvée Brut France, Champagne
88 points
Solid Bubbles, I enjoyed this and have no problem drinking this thats for sure
White - Sparkling
N.V. G. H. Mumm & Cie Champagne Cordon Rouge Brut France, Champagne
86 points
I like Mumm, even tho the Dosage is a touch on the sweet side but the underlying quality is there and its on the touch richer side [plus sweetness]
