Some Burgundies at my place

Tasted February 22, 2013 by Pierre-Yves with 400 views

Flight 1 (4 notes)

With a restricted crew over, given the notes it looks like it went downhill, but we went back to the Chablis that really blossomed at the end.

Tasted blind.
Soon after opening, nose is not so expressive, but still has plenty of minerality and salinity with a touch of ananas. Palate is more onctuous with honey and some vanilla.
Hours later, the nose is lot more expressive with white flowers, honey and still minerality. Plate has still some saltiness but has now exploded, with plenty of honey.

Delicious.

Wonderful evolved Pinot nose, with some confit fruit and earth.
Palate is silky and elegant but then falls short at the finish. I liked the style and sonehow expected a bit more.

Light ruby color.
Evolved Pinot nose, with some fruit confit, earth and more spices.
Body is quite light.
Overall quite good, but missing Grand cru qualities IMHO.

Color is dark ruby, not showing much age.
The nose smells like Maggi or meat broth.
We thought that it would go away like some reduction does, but not this one.
Next day the meet broth was still there added with some dust.
Underneath there was some sgood tructure and material but the nose was really putting off. Disapointing for a Grand Cru.
