2010 Castello Monaci Primitivo Piluna Salento IGT Italy, Puglia, Salento IGT

Vibrant nose. Straightfoward in the mouth, raspberries and anise. Very straightforward and enjoyable wine, excellent value at ~$11 / bottle.
Red
2010 Azienda Agricola Natalino del Prete Salice Salentino Torre Nova Italy, Puglia, Salice Salentino
88 points
Nose like a prosciutto. Earthiness in the mouth, finishes with fruit. Everyone I talked to either really liked this or really disliked it. I'm in the former camp.
Red
2008 Fattoria La Valentina Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Spelt Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
85 points
Lovely nose. Nothing there in the mouth for me... tannic and woody. Maybe needed more time. Easily my least favorite at the tasting.
Red
2010 Grosjean Pinot Noir Valle d'Aosta Italy, Valle d'Aosta
89 points
The softer side of pinot. Red fruit and light earthiness. Very nice balance to the wine.. Wait, this is from where? Italy? Wow. Nice wine.
Red
2007 La Stoppa Macchiona Emilia IGT Italy, Emilia-Romagna, Emilia IGT
90 points
Big and beastly. Big nose, big in the mouth, complex fruit / earth flavors. Not jammy at all. Nice balance between balance and full expression. Badly wanted a nice big hunk of beef to have alongside.
Red
2007 Tommaso Bussola Valpolicella Classico Superiore Tb Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Valpolicella Classico Superiore
90 points
Floral nose. Complex in the mouth, different with each sip. Blueberries, lavendar, caramelized onion, more. A lot there. I haven't tasted much Valpolicella and there's too much here for me to pick out as a newcomer to the region.
