White
2011 Domaine du Clos des Fées Grenache Blanc Vieilles Vignes France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes Catalanes
90 points
Very fine, very floral, elegant, fragrant, smooth, excellent Gernache Blanc typicity. Lovely. Very different from the 2010.
Red
2007 Thunevin Mauvais Garçon / Bad Boy France, Bordeaux
90 points
Merlot and Cab Franc. This is the wine of an artist. Avoids the lack of stuffing that mars so many 2007's, wonderful depth on the nose, touch of liquorice, hint of mint; successfully walks a tightrope between refined new oak and crisp acidity, ripe raspberry fruit and limestone minerality, richness and poise; good depth and balance, lovely touch of spice, elegant but firm tannic grip, very good length. A very good wine in the context of 2007, one of the better ones I have tasted; just lacks some finesse and subtlety for a higher score.
