Introduction
Domino and I decided to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary with a few friends over dinner at the Anvil Club. I requested that the Club include a foie course for us, and sent them the list of what we planned on opening in case they felt like coming up with another appetizer or entree choice for us. They took the list and created a full menu for us. The Club did a wonderful job for us, and really let us enjoy the evening with friends.
Other than pairing the sweeties with the foie & dessert, we just pulled corks and worked our way thorugh the wines, being able to revisit as we pleased, inviting the restaurant staff to taste along the way as well.
Thanks to Sue & Mike, M/M thelostverse and M/M Vino Me for celebrating with us.

Notes of apple, clay, toast and stone with a subtle wet dough quality. Nice fruit on the palate, with a certain masculine quality compared to the lighter, crisp Domaine Carneros that preceded it. Nice roasted apple adn toast notes on the finish. 91+ pts.
White
2008 Peter Michael Chardonnay Mon Plaisir
USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
Cloudy yellow color. Notes of coconut, toast, marshmallow, peach blossom and butterscotch. Lovely toasted oak and white fruit flavors on the palate. A bit on the young side yet. Drink 2016+.
White
2008 Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains
USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
Graciously opened by M/M thelostverse, decanted for an hour+ if I recall correctly. Light golden color with notes of apple, vanilla, butterscotch and spice. Rich, toasted qualities on the nose & palate. Baked apple and toast qualities on the finish with a stony/minerally tinge. Long finish. Gorgeous.
White
2008 Sine Qua Non Kolibri
USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County
Pulled the cork about two hours prior to dinner, poured a small taste and put the cork back in. Upon opening, florals dominated the bouquet and the palate was full of bright citrus oil qualities. A couple of hours later, teh aromas turned to mineral oil, citrus, apple and florals with a lanolin-like undertone. Apple, melon, lanolin and clove qualities on the palate. 90-92 pts.
Red
2008 Kistler Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
I went through four of these shortly after release and really enjoyed them...this bottle was a completely different story. Hot, alcoholic and disjointed. Will have to pull another bottle from storage very soon.

Lovely mix of red & dark fruits, spice and earth in the bouquet. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced, with cherry, earth, cinnamon and spice qualities. Finishes well with dark fruit and earth tones. 92-93 pts.
