Sweet and beautifully gentle compared to the reservas but fantastic coffee-nuanced nose and engaging fruit, all the same. Moderate finish that doesn't quite share the joy of the reservas. A great bargain.

Wow! Forrest and rose bouquet; deep and just *pleasurable* fruit with a touch of mint. Some heavenly softness of flavors that nonetheless come off with perfect intensity (as compared to, say, the '08 Rio Sordo whose similar softness presents more quietly). Great structure and symmetry. Of all the '08 Porduttori del Barbaresco Reservas, I bought only this (and two of 'em!).

Hot nose of industrial cleaning agent (in the nicest way); but that heat is nicely integrated into this warming, fireside wine as spice, blueberries, and redfruit. The impression suggests higher alcohol than the other '08 reservas (though they're all labeled 14.5%) but the Montefico's profile adroitly incorporates it as a feature.

Amazing nose of habenero and cinnamon. Exciting spice and heat in the complex mouth but ultimately closed down; the fruit unfriendly and harsh. Score could improve if this ever chills out. Drink 2023-

Baked brownie bouquet and pretty incredible wine even now (though it's got years and years to go) with a long slide of flavors, a precisely formed shape and feel, and an enjoyable, ripe tail. Not quite they symmetry and stunning depth of the '08 Ovello.

Cotton candy scents introduce a delicious and mouthful that swerves a bit violently on the tail.

Generous high-toned bouquet like a garden of moderate flowers. Friendly but not exuberant; intoxicating. The soft fruit notes are enjoyable but don't have the oomph to outperform the tannic structure. Brown sugar notes delight on the finish.

A singular wine that stays true to itself from bouquet to finish. Classic tar and roses on the nose, which is less pronounced than some of the other '08 reservas. Beautiful balance and incredible presence and elegance. The weight and body are just right too. Nice length throughout which stays remarkably consistent. This Asili is the most well-packaged of the '08 Produttori del Barbaresco Reservas. Beautifully put together.

Very different personality from the other '08 Reservas. Spearmint and cherry bark notes lead to a layered, papery entry with dark fruit and an acidic cap. Bruised fruit finish. Very sexy.

Fascinating orange, funk, mixed nuts, and a garden of flowers on the nose. The significant structure is masterfully fused with the persistent nebiollo fruit. The initial strong finish is short, leaving a lingering low-grade over-ripeness.
