Flight 1 (1 note)

White
2010 Stolpman Roussanne L'Avion USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley
87 points
Buttery, with understated hints of citrus.

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
2011 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards Estate Syrah/Mourvedre USA, Idaho, Snake River Valley
88 points
Medium bodied, with a wonderfully aromatic nose, and good structure on the palate, with red and bitter cherry. A little one-dimensional on the back palate. Finishes dry. Got better after 60 minutes, revealing more minerality, particularly on the nose, and also some smokiness on the palate. Ready to drink but could benefit from a little more time. 87-89

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
2009 Moulin de la Gardette Gigondas La Cuvée Tradition France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
Wound up. Needs more time. 87 points now.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
2008 Baldassari Syrah USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley
91 points
Medium to full body. Dark cocoa and charcoal on the nose. Ripe fruit, round, and amazingly well balanced, with medium+ tannins. Very tasty. 14.6% ABV.
Still drinking well the next day, and the heat is only slightly creeping up now underneath the black currants and licorice concentrate.
90-91

Flight 5 (1 note)

Red
2010 T-Vine Cellars Grenache Napa Valley USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Sweet, aromatic nose, light to medium bodied, good concentration. On the sweet side, but well done if you like the style. 14.6% ABV.

Flight 6 (1 note)

Red
2008 Mahoney Vineyards Syrah Carneros USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
89 points
Carneros nose, easy drinking, pretty. 14.3% ABV.

Flight 7 (1 note)

Red
2010 Artezin Mourvèdre Evangelho Vineyard USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County
Overripe, burnt, stewed fruit. For lovers of ripe Zins.

Flight 8 (1 note)

Red
2009 Brick Angel "Littlefoot" USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Sexy, feminine nose, perfectly ripe fruit on the palate, in excellent balance. Not overly complex, but amazingly no heat despite the 14.9% alcohol, and very smoooooth. Reminded me of a Rosenblum Heritage Clones Petite Sirah. 90-91

Flight 9 (1 note)

Red
2011 Stolpman Syrah Estate Santa Ynez Valley USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley
88 points
Medium to full bodied, with good aromatics, medium-full and dry tannin, and sweet cranberry flavors. Short finish. Could use another 1-2 years. 87-88+
