2011 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards Estate Syrah/Mourvedre
88 points
Medium bodied, with a wonderfully aromatic nose, and good structure on the palate, with red and bitter cherry. A little one-dimensional on the back palate. Finishes dry. Got better after 60 minutes, revealing more minerality, particularly on the nose, and also some smokiness on the palate. Ready to drink but could benefit from a little more time. 87-89

2008 Baldassari Syrah

Medium to full body. Dark cocoa and charcoal on the nose. Ripe fruit, round, and amazingly well balanced, with medium+ tannins. Very tasty. 14.6% ABV.
Still drinking well the next day, and the heat is only slightly creeping up now underneath the black currants and licorice concentrate.

2009 Brick Angel "Littlefoot"
90 points
Sexy, feminine nose, perfectly ripe fruit on the palate, in excellent balance. Not overly complex, but amazingly no heat despite the 14.9% alcohol, and very smoooooth. Reminded me of a Rosenblum Heritage Clones Petite Sirah. 90-91

2011 Stolpman Syrah Estate Santa Ynez Valley

Medium to full bodied, with good aromatics, medium-full and dry tannin, and sweet cranberry flavors. Short finish. Could use another 1-2 years. 87-88+
