Introduction

Here are a few wines from our vacation in Austria.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2010 Aichinger Grüner Veltliner Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal
85 points
Served at the hotel in Wein. Very light. Apricot and green apple. Very light on the attack with plenty of acid on the finish. Simple but effective.
White
2012 Martin Fink Gelber Muskateller Federspiel Loibner Rothenhof Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Tasted in a wine shack in Durnstein Austria. Like the floral notes and the medium plus acidity. Has a real Sauvignon Blanc quality to the fruit profile. Chris bought a bottle.
Red
2012 Gesellmann Blaufränkisch Hochacker (Deutschkreutz) Austria, Burgenland, Mittelburgenland
First time with this grape. It's not very impressive, plum fruit and green notes. Just not that interesting.
Red
2011 Weingut Erich Scheiblhofer Big John Cuvée Réserve Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee
88 points
Hey, this is a rock solid wine. Reminds me of a Paso GSM.
Red - Fortified
N.V. Martin Fink Rotwein Likör Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Quite nice considering the RS because acid balances it all out. Sweet cherry and raspberry fruit. Glycerin moutheel. Purchased a bottle.
Red
2012 Salzl Seewinkelhof Zweigelt Selection Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee
One of the better Zweigelt I've had. Early drinker with soft tannins and smooth on the tongue. Light red cherry mid palate. Medium finish.
