Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
2000 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
94 points
Masculine wine. Freshly harvested fruits, kirsch, lavender and some medicinal tones in the nose. Full bodied and deep, ton of (autumnal) fruits, earth and rich in tannins on the palate. Excellent now, but needs more time to open up and gain points. Bit overshadowed by the 1990 and 1982 tonight.

1990 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

A stunning bottle, more developed than earlier bottles we had. Wonderfully complex, earth, minerals, meat and blood in the nose. Medium bodied palate, well delineated with tertiary fruits and pronounced iron and mineral tones - reminding of Pauillac. All followed by a long lingering finish of dark earth and truffle tones.

1982 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Subdued bouquet of concentrated little dark fruits and stalks. Classic Bordeaux high on minerals and iron tones (as also the 2000 and 1990 beside) - more than I expected from LLC. Full bodied, rich on tannins with autumn tones and some eucalyptus on the palate. Well balanced, good acidity. Significant more developed than the bottle I had the next day, quite surprised to see such differences between bottles of this wine.
