Flight 1 (4 notes)

White - Sparkling
2000 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
Probably the 12th time I've had this over the past year or so and yet to disappoint. Great freshness on the palate with great fresh lemon and lemon curd notes. Some toasty notes as well, but not as toasty at this stage as say the 98 vintage. Good structure and acidity all throughout. Delicious Champagne with a long life ahead.

White
1992 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
(Library Release from early 2012) Popped, poured and drank over roughly 3 hours. Very much like the bottles consumed last year. Amazingly Chave Hermitage Blanc-ish. Waxy, with a very round texture on the palate. Slightly nutty notes. Marzipan. Ripe and lush yellow fruits. Like previous bottles, it showed best after being open/in the glass for 30 min and held well throughout dinner. A really fun and unique white Burgundy. I plan on holding my last one for quite some time to see how it continues to evolve.
Red
2002 Louis Jadot Griotte-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Opened, but not decanted about an hour before trying and then drank over 90 minutes or so. A very expressive nose of ripe dark red/black cherries with an alluring earthy quality as well. Darker spices. Lush and forward on the palate with the same ripe cherry and berry fruit. Wonderfully balanced. Still showing some structure and can certainly last, but if I had any in my cellar it would be hard not to drink them now. A fantastic showing.

2001 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Opened, but not decanted, roughly an hour before trying and then drank over 90 minutes. Of the half dozen or so times I've had this over the past few years, this was the most reserved showing. Very dark and brooding and not giving up much at all for the first 30-45 minutes. When it finally did begin to open up, there was very dark cherry and berry with a mineral driven palate. Quite firm all throughout with a moderate finish. Based upon this bottle, I'd recommend a decant if opening a bottle soon.
