Introduction

Reserved a bottle of '83 Palmer - good choice!

Flight 1 (1 note)

Red
1983 Château Palmer France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
95 points
Beautiful, beautiful nose. Perfume really - there's no other way to describe it; full of flowers and pure fruit. So Margaux. Perfect balance on the palate but it's elegance and not power that characterizes the wine. A hint of green on the finish. Years left - the dregs were the most dense and concentrated. Really opened out at an hour and a half in the decanter; best after two hours.

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
1995 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
93 points
Harmonious nose, the fruit in perfect balance with oak, earth, mineral and a saline top note. Equally well balanced on the palate with a long finish. What a beautiful style of Napa.
