Introduction

Only six showed: Arnoldo, Yoram, Mati, Hanan & Eli (& me); Yoav preferred the Maccabi vs Jalgiris basketball match...
This time I tried to find various wines from different regions, but with top scores

Flight 1 - 1998 Beaucastel (1 note)

Nobody really identified this as CdP...
perhaps it was a bit below expectation..

Red
1998 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
red-brown colour
sweet ripe raisins tertiary aroma
full body, ripe fruits, well balanced and good harmony, dense, rich, not a typical CDP, enjoyable, qualitative long aftertaste.

Flight 2 - 2000 Ducru Beaucaillou (1 note)

This was a great surprise and identified as good Bordeaux, but nobody appreciated this as such great as it was

Red
2000 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
94 points
dark red-black
quality elegant intense left-bankaroma, with notes of blackberry, earth, spice, truffle, cassis, smoke, blueberry and tobacco
full bodied, firm solid integrated tannins, excellent acidity level, wonderful harmony, great complexity, waves of pure, sweet, ripe, black cherry and spicy cassis with long, generous finish.
this will continue improving for at least another 2-3 decades!

Flight 3 - 2001 Barolo (1 note)

Again, nobody identified this as Barolo, but all agreed it was a great one!

Red
2001 Conterno Fantino Barolo Sorì Ginestra Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
94 points
uncorked, double decanted 3 hours before the first sip
dark red-black
intense tertiary aromas with notes of liquorice, menthol, prunes, and a hint of roses
full bodied, high acidity, firm tannins, powerful, lot of dark cherry and cola, complex, with very long finish.
a huge, masculine Barolo, that can further age 10-15 years

Flight 4 - 2004 Riesling (1 note)

this was a real pleasure!

White - Off-dry
2004 Dönnhoff Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
light yello-straw colour
fresh tropical fruity aroma of apple, melon, peach & lime
rich, dense, full body, high acidity, melon, peach, lichee, stone-fruit and light honey flavors, balanced, harmonious, pleasant minerality. long pure aftertaste. A great pleasure.
will continue to age beautifully.

Closing

It was a very enjoyable evening.
Starting with delicious peppered salami, Lomo, with various Ein-Camonim cheeses, followed by creme pea-soup with sliced cabanas, that everybody enjoyed so much that each refilled his bowl (!),
then baked mini-potatoes in salt & olive-oil, topped with Rosemarie, leek & cheddar pastry alongside of 2.5 kg roast beef Loin mustard-flavoured.
We ended with a brandied-chocolate pudding!
