2011 De Loach Chardonnay Heritage Reserve USA, California
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of lime, white peaches, and pear. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, bright refreshing high acidity, medium alcohol, medium body. Medium flavor intensity, with flavours of lemon-lime, white peaches, pear, and just a hint of vanilla oak. Medium- finish.
Good quality entry level mildly oaked Chardonnay. Drink now while fresh.
White
2010 De Loach Chardonnay OFS USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoky toasted oak, vanilla, and citrus fruit. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ body. Medium+ flavor intensity, with flavours of smoky toasted oak, butter, vanilla, lemon, honeyed tropical fruits - pineapple, rock melon. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Textbook style Chardonnay with nice oak (mix of American and French oak according to the winery rep) influence, malolactic fermentation, battonage, and ripe tropical fruit flavours. Can drink now, and will improve over the next 3-4 years.

Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of ripe strawberry jam and red plums. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, smooth medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavor intensity, with flavours of ripe strawberry, red plums, cranberries, raspberries. Medium finish.
Good quality. Fruit-forward and approachable. Drink now while fresh.

Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoky toasted oak, strawberry, and boysenberry. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, smooth medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavor intensity, with flavours of smoky toasted oak, strawberry, boysenberry, dark cherries, slight ?anise spice, and a touch of leafiness - showing up the difficult conditions of the 2010 vintage in Sonoma.
Very good quality Zinfandel. Nice drinking now, and will continue over the next 2-3 years.
