2013 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

I always admire the way this wine combines everything that has made Marlborough sauvignon blanc so popular and very little of what it has made it boring. Green fig, lime zest, stony minerality and tropical scents on the nose. Medium-bodied, crispy and vibrant with lively, mouth-watering acidity and a remarkably long aftertaste.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Intense smoke and flintstone alongside lime and green fig. Med+ bodied, round, rich balanced and long. Very young at this stage.

The least expressive of the 3 vintages and the one with more varietal typicity. Lime, greenness and wet stones on the nose. Med+ with good balance and length but needs a couple of years in the cellar to overcome a dormant phase.

Shows slow but graceful evolution. The most complex of the 3 with earthy and undergrowth scents alongside beeswax, honeysuckle, apricot and pineapple. Full-bodied with noticeable sweetness, perfectly round, rich and long with a long life ahead. Proved to me that Greywacke wild sauvignon is a wine with excellent cellaring potential.

White
2012 Greywacke Pinot Gris New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

Ripe apricot and peach on the nose. Medium-bodied with sweetness (off-dry) and low acidity. Easy drinking but not special.
