Introduction

Thomas and Charlie came to town for work and a we headed to RPM for dinner. Got my favorite table in the restaurant and our 6 top had a great night. Food was super as always, and we were taken great care of. Always recommend doing wine dinners at RPM...

A seriously great Special Club. Tons of floral and lemon/lime notes on the nose. Just buzzing with energy and minerals this is so young and beautiful. Could have drank this wine all night, but it was gone so quickly.

Delicious stuff with nice yeasty notes. Loved the lime and pear notes on the palate...and it had this really nice wet slate/mineral thing going on too. Tons of polish and elegance. Great stuff.

Super bottle. Lots of wet slate, lemons, and pears. Uber fresh with layers of florals and citrus tones on the palate...just a gorgeous wine. Clearly, Ceritas makes the finest chardonnays in the USA.

Super buttery and oaky. Lots of limes and lemons on the palate...maybe needs time for the oak to die down. This is in a rough stage of its adolescence.

Started off really nice, but quickly faded for me. Nice dark fruits, some earth, and a sweet tobacco note. With air, this got really sweet and candied and began to thin out. Nice while it lasted!

2005 Domaine Les Roches (Alain et Jérome Lenoir) Chinon France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon

Better than the bottle I tried in the spring. Decanting this was good...the rustic cabernet franc nose really built up and showcased nice red fruits, lots of green pepper, and floral notes. Great length and balance on the palate - maybe about 5-10 years away form peak.

81 has been a fickle year in BDX for me. Some are great, others are shot. This kinda straddled both. It started off with some really nice cherry, tobacco, and earthy notes, but quickly descended into an acid bath. Really enjoyed it when it was first opened.

Very rich and primary. The fruit is super dark, and warm. Thought this was good, but a bit too juicy/modern/rich for my taste...probably a combination of vintage and producer.

1998 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

A really nice example of Right Bank 1998 goodness. The fruit was still a bit primary but shows great potential. Had a nice rustic edge to it of earth, smoke, and violets. Good length and potential for improvement.
