Flight 1 (9 notes)

White
2005 Château de Fieuzal Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
88 points
Slightly oxidized but still offered golden delicious apples, Carmel and orange peel. Medium finish. Drink immediately.
White - Sparkling
1990 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame France, Champagne
93 points
Aging well with floral, candied fruit, chalk burnt toast and apricots. Bubbles tiny and acidity still present. Should be enjoyed over the next few years.

1990 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
94 points
Still amazingly youthful with raspberries, funk, leather, tobacco and earth. Nose and palate match to perfection. Medium to long finish and this wine should continue to evolve over the next 25 years.

1990 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
90 points
Underwhelming bottle or wine. Subtle nose of damp earth, tobacco, underbrush and spices. Palate added some blueberry notes but was a bit thin. Medium finish. Seeing my note two years earlier I have to believe this bottle has some flaws.
Red
1990 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
95 points
Wow! Amazing nose of spice, green olives, wood, blueberries and chocolate. This wine is amazingly young for 24 years and should continue to evolve over the next 20. Super concentrated and long finish. Complex wine and what an enjoyable experience.
Red
1990 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
92 points
Medium color. Blueberries, cedar, pencil lead, raspberries and a bit bitter on the finish. Medium to long but lacks the complexity of the other wines and not in the league of the 2000 effort. Drink or hold.
Red
1990 Château La Mission Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
94 points
Outstanding and long life ahead. Walnuts, chestnuts, black licorice, gravel, tobacco and red currants. Super concentrated and LONG finish. Good acidity and decanted about 2 hours. Hold or enjoy over the next two decades.
Red
1990 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
97 points
Wine of the year candidate. Decanted 1.5 hours. Intense wine with pepper, red meat, earth, bright fruits and gravel. The palate offers a variety of mineral elements and super long finish. While this is still tannic the flavors are persistent and this should age 30 years. An unbelievable effort!!!
White - Sweet/Dessert
1990 Château Rieussec France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
94 points
Carmel, crème Brule, apricots and orange peel. Great acidity and pure. Very well done. Drink now or hold for five years.
