White
2013 Tsantali Assyrtiko DIO Organic
A bit shy on the nose. Sharp, musky and dusky. Flinty, briny, citric and salty.

2013 Domaine Gerovassiliou Malagousia Single Vineyard
Explosive nose of melon, white flower and peach. It reminds me a bit of a Moscato. The palate is loaded with lime, but is also spicy and peppery.

2013 Domaine Gerovassiliou Viognier
Meh. Slightly harsh with the stereotypical peach pit and kerosene. I was a much bigger fan of the traditional Greek varieties over this.

2011 Tsantali Rapsani
Interesting nose. Quite leafy. Much more round and juicy on the palate. Still impressively firm and austere and not just a fruit bomb.

2010 Kir-Yianni Xinomavro Ramnista
"Xinomavro = Black acid." Leafy and floral, oddly reminiscent of a Nebbiolo Cab blend (reminded me of La Spinetta Pin). Powerful tannins.

A bit of tomato stalk. Oak. Meaty and peppery with searing tannins and acidity.

More of that odd tomato leaf character.

2011 Kir-Yianni Diaporos
Another very Nebbiolo-like wine. Some smoke and meat. Now that I have compared a few oaked wines to unoaked wines, it is pretty clear this is the oak talking.

Big, searing, powerful and tannic. Loaded with oak. Much more extracted than some of the other wines.
