White
1999 Château du Coing de Saint Fiacre Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Comte de St. Hubert France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine
87 points
Light golden. Pure nose with ripe yellow fruit and some wet wool. Pure and tight on the palate. Some spices and salt in the finish. Still quite young, good value.
White
1996 Domaine des Chenevières Chablis Les Grandes Vignes France, Burgundy, Chablis
87 points
Flaxen. Some chemical notes on the nose. Butter and some sweetness. Medium body, smooth. Quite some oak in the finish.
Still in a good shape, but the oak is too prominent.
White - Off-dry
1989 J.B. Becker Wallufer Walkenberg Riesling Auslese Germany, Rheingau
92 points
Amber. Candied nose, small hint of petro, raisins and honey. Nice body, great acidity. Long finish and very well balanced. Delicious.
Red
1993 Azienda Agricola Villa Lanata Barolo Brunate Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
90 points
Rust red. Chemical nose with cherry and dried fruit. Light bodied, quite high acidity. Almost over the top, but there are still some nice fruit left. Drink now.
Red
1989 Couly-Dutheil Chinon Clos de l'Olive France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
90 points
Clear red, some development. Initialy a bit shy on the nose, but there is a particular aroma of red pepper, cabbage, blackcurrant and tobacco. Tight, quite dry. A salty finish, like black olives. A very particular style.
On day two the wine appears more "harmonic" and smooth.
Red
1982 Château La Tour de By Heritage Marc Pages France, Bordeaux, Médoc
92 points
Ruby color. Classic Bordeaux-nose. Blackcurrant, cigar and pencil. Pure and precise. Very long.
Red
1997 Tenuta San Leonardo San Leonardo Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Trentino, Vallagarina IGT
89 points
Deep, dark red. A bit green on the nose. Blackcurrant, cedar, generous style. Tight, stil young. Straight-forward, but very pleasant.
