This had received a 24 hour decant. I thought this was one of the most transparent young nebbiolo's I've ever tried. The flavors were clear and airy, bright cherry and earth tones, bits of stone and earth, too. Gorgeous wine.

A really easygoing, floral expression of Nebbiolo. Out of all the crus, this one seemed the most open and clear. Beautifully airy, lightweight palate with some zippy acidity. Tannins were smooth and gave the wine nice structure instead of being a distraction.

Super racy with lots of spice and cranberry notes. The palate was nicely composed with layers of rose tones, cherry, spices, and bits of tar. A young wine, but I think this has tons of potential.

This was very closed, firm, and I thought a bit disjointed. There were some light berry tones in the wine, but the alcohol really came through on the finish. Wasn't a big fan of this on this night, but only time will tell if it comes around.

While some of the crus were softer or harder, I don't think there were any that was more old school than this. More funky earth notes, tart red fruits, a subtle meatiness, and smoke. Beautiful structure and depth. Drinking nicely.

A real beauty. Thought Adrian's call of some subtle mushroom notes was spot on. Added to that were some airy/elegant rose notes - just a beautiful package. One of the top wines of the night.

My least favorite of the evening, and the only wine that lived up to my (grossly inaccurate) preconceived notion of this vintage. The fruit seemed really slick and glossy and the wine just didn't hold the alcohol in the elegant way that most of the other crus did. Again, time could certainly be the wine's ally, but not a very good showing.

I really liked the tart cherry tones in the wine. There was also a smokiness to it that I hadn't found on the other crus. The bigger story here was how the tannins were. Has a firmness to it that shielded me from getting a really good read on it.

A very powerful, concentrated, and deep Barbaresco. The structure of the wine was intimidating, with beautiful layers of floral notes, red fruits, subtle earth and tannins. This is close to what I imagine being the perfect young Rabajà. Gorgeous!

Certainly a wine that commands your attention. The wine had a significant presence - the fruit was bold, a bit spicy, and deep. The rose notes seemed a bit brighter, and the earthy notes a bit more perfumed. I thought this was a tick below the Rabaja and one of the top wines of the night.
