Phenomenal wine. Stunning and in a great place right now. Plenty of power and finesse. Tons of depth on the palate and a long lingering finish. Dark, rich fruits galore. The nose was heavenly. In a perfect place right now for my tastes, but will hold and probably continue developing.
Red
2005 Château d'Armailhac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Good wine. Similar notes as before but felt a little more integrated this time around.

2005 Château Clinet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

A very special wine. Was outclassed tonight by a 2003 l'Evangile, but I suspect that this will develop over time to give the l'Evangile a run for its money. Spellbinding aromas after a few hours decant. Plenty of fruit and ample acidity for the long haul. This was much improved since I last tried this a year or so ago. This is continuing to get better and better. What stuns me the most about this wine is the balance between power and finesse. This is an extremely beautiful wine, it doesn't command your attention through brute force, but is very Burgundian in its seductive aromas and elegance.

Been a year since I last had this and this has improved even more. A lovely wine at this point. Really starting to hit its stride. The oak is nicely integrated and not overbearing. Oak is present, but doesnt hinder the experience. Plenty of dark purple and blue fruits on the palate, but this doesn't feel overdone. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and as good as it was, I think it will get better. I will try to resist opening another for at least another year.
