Flight 1 (14 notes)
White - Sparkling
N.V. Egly-Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Tradition Brut
Tasting, brief note. Always one of my favorite Pinot Noir-driven Champagnes, this didn't disappoint tonight. Good concentration with strawberry and apple mostly prominent. I like the structure coming through here, while also a bit more leesy than I'd prefer.
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Jean Vesselle Champagne Brut Œil de Perdrix
Tasting, brief note. Also very Pinot Noir driven, this came across slightly lighter styled with elegance and good energy. Good.
White
2013 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Floral and perfumed start with walnut oil and orchard fruit aromas. Good energy on palate with moderate concentration. Good already now, I think it might get better in a year or two, but wouldn't keep it much beyond 2020.
Red
2013 Bernard Dubois Chorey-les-Beaune Clos Margot
Tasting, brief note. Red cherry, simple but very easy to enjoy. Nice enough textures for wine at this level and price.

Red
2011 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Dense and black fruit with good concentration and background spice. Certainly firm today, but all great raw materials shine through, just requiring plenty more cellar time. Probably my favorite of the handful of top 2011s served today.
Red
2011 Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses
Tasting, brief note. Red cherry with very good spice. Moderate concentration. Good balance and integration, I like how this has come together already. Not the most complex or nuanced vintage for this wine, but a good young-to-medium-term wine. More accessible than Bonnes Mares, but not as powerful.
Red
2011 Domaine Robert Groffier Bonnes Mares
Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry with subtle background spice. Less acessible vs Amoureuses, but more powerful and cellarworthy, even if not at the level of top vintages for this wine.
Red
2011 Domaine Anne Gros Echezeaux Les Loachausses
Tasting, brief note. I didn't find this nearly as charming as when tried a year ago or shortly after release. The fruit seems more restrained, less opulent than I expect from Anne Gros' best wines, and some slight hints of the green bitterness all too common in 2011s. I will stash away my 2 bottles for several years before opening either, but also don't consider this a long-term hold.
Red
2012 La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Red berries throughout with good spice and mineral textures. Structure and fruit in good balance right now, but this deceptively has the structure to age nicely.
Red
2012 La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d'Or
91 points
Tasting, brief note. all about red fruit with touches of floral and spice support. Also well balanced with sneaky structure that I like.
Red
2001 Mas de Gourgonnier Les Baux-de-Provence Réserve du Mas
Tasting, brief note. Slightly barnyardy with black fruit, background spice. At a good point in its maturity, but I couldn't see any upside from here.
Red
2011 Mas de Gourgonnier Les Baux-de-Provence Réserve du Mas
Tasting, brief note. Black berry with some earthy and animale elements. A perfectly fine wine for a simple meal. Ok in general.
White
2014 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
Tasting, brief note. Another wine i don't think I have ever tried before. Tasty and easy to enjoy. Fat and slightly one dimensional, but pleasurable and probably even better with food. Best for the next year or two.
White
2014 Pierre Gaillard Côtes du Rhône Les Gendrines
Great nose with intense fruit, floral charm and subtle spice. Similarly ripe, rich stone and tropical fruit flavors with an unctuous texture. Perhaps a tad too much heat on finish, but i also think this was too warm (60F?) when tasted near the end of the tasting. No mistaking this for anything other than Viognier, and seemingly very Condrieu-esque.
