Tasted November 15, 2015 by mmcdds with 203 views
Introduction
Tonight we decided to taste 2010 and 2011 KB appellation and single vineyard wines.
Flight 1 (4 notes)
Red
2010 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
Tonight we had a blind tasting of 2010 & 2011 Gaps Crown Vineyard, 2011 Sonoma Coast & 2010 RRV. All were drinking very well tonight with just abit of air and were typical big, bold Kosta Brownes with good depth and complexity. Surprisingly, before we revealed the bottles, everyone equally preferred the RRV and the Sonoma Coast over the Gaps Crown bottlings, with the typical comment that the Gaps Crowns were abit flatter tasting.

Closing
While all the wines tonight were great, the fact that during the blind tasting, everyone, including myself, preferred the appellation wines over the single vineyard wines, will probably influence my purchasing decisions of the single vineyard wines in the future. It seems hard to justify the added cost of the single vineyards if I like the appellation wines better.
