Introduction

We got together with some Phi's BBQ and tasted through 3 roses. Two from this season, 1 from last.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

This was a fantastic rose. Lots of floral elements on the nose, with great strawberry and cherry flavors. WOTN

This rose was a difficult experience for everyone at the table. It started out alcoholic, with not a lot of great pinot fruit on the palate. Nose was kind of muted. We let it sit and came back to it after an hour. Alcohol had settled down markedly. Nose was much more expressive of bright, clean fruit flavors. I think this needs a few months of rest to come together a bit more.

This was a pretty decent rose, even if done in a completely different style (and grape for that matter) from the other Rose of the evening. It was very big on strawberry and other red fruit flavors, with some spice definitely showing. The alcohol was definitely peeking through a bit on this but still a highly enjoyable Rose of syrah. #2 of the night.
