Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Laurent-Perrier Champagne Brut L.P. France, Champagne

Great appertif, lovely nutty/vanilla presence, fine mousse, very enjoyable

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
1945 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Did not decant; initial organic aromatic (ethyl acetate) took a while to blow off. This bottle was negociant bottled in London (Corney and Barrow, LTD). After an hour it came alive, fruit was present, but the presence was austere. Will decant the next one.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1966 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Lovely, great fruity presence out of the bottle, tannins were nicely balanced and the wine in the glass stood up well over 2 hrs of tasting.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
1988 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Last had this two years ago (see last note); that tasting followed the 85 Lynch Bages and the 88 never seemd to have opened up. The present experience was much more impressive; fabulous fruits have developed..black cherry, currant, cassis. The wine was decanted, which helped and it simply jumped out of the glass...wonderful!!

Turns out the Sommelier is THE Sean O'M; who came back into our lives a year later. He did not remember us from a year ago, but clearly remembered the wines!
