Introduction

There was another wine or two but I went for the ones that interested me.

Flight 1 (4 notes)

Rosé
2015 Montenidoli Canaiuolo Toscana IGT Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
We've been through a few of these now. I was worried after AG's rose report in which he said many roses in this vintage were lacking acidity. I don't find that to be the case here. This wine is plenty crisp, with some herb and faint melon notes. Solid rose but not quite as interesting as previous vintages.
White
2013 Schäfer-Fröhlich Riesling Vulkangestein trocken Germany, Nahe
This is lively and bright with lime, citrus, wet slate, and something faint and orange like unripe mango or tangerine on the finish. Tasty.
White
2012 Gilbert Picq & ses Fils Chablis en Vaudecorse France, Burgundy, Chablis
Some flint and citrus scented salty sea air on the nose. Love the smell of this. Salinity, green and yellow apples in the mouth. This is really working for me tonight. The finish shows a little blanched almond. Also perhaps a hint of marshmallow or caramel on the finish which I don't prefer but overall this showed well tonight.

Red
2012 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
Smokey, with charred earth, dark fruits and a black licorice accent. I don't find this particularly tannic but there is quite a bit of acid. Seems a little leaner than the the last few years. Good now, and better with food, but this probably needs a little time to come together.

A third of the bottle sat in the fridge over night under cork. Tonight the wine is better balanced. Silky, with just a little more weight. I'll wait a while before opening another one.
