Tasting, brief note. Starts nicely ripe and somewhat opulent. Stays ripe, but good textures middle to finish help provide restraint and length. VG for its level.

Tasting, brief note. Sensationally perfumed with bright red cherry and berry. Dense and powerful in every regard. I haven't had this since shortly after release, and wow, it's really coming into great form already.

Tasting, brief note. More red than black fruit, savory spice with moderate weight. Some firm structure that will need a few years in the cellar to soften, but an overall elegant style.

2014 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
93 points
Tasting, brief note. Lots of spice, red berry and cherry aromas. Similar flavors with wonderful textures and balance. Expanding, unfolding finish. Almost ready now, but with there is so much coiled up energy that I'm certain this will evolve in many interesting directions over the next decade+.
Red
2012 Faiveley Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Floral and spice notes with black cherry and a hint+ of new oak that still needs to absorb. Dense fruit is the highlight here with structure that has softened substantially since last tasted 2+ years ago. Close to ready, 2020?

2014 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru

Red
2014 Domaine Trapet (Jean et Jean-Louis) Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
89 points
Tasting, brief note. I like the old vine concentration here, but the wine came across as more elegantly styled than i tend to expect from Gevrey Villages. There is a slightly backward note here, so patience will be rewarded, and perhaps more Gevrey will emerge.

Wow, what a treat. At first this seemed so accessible that I double checked it was 2012 Corton. Black and red cherry with savory spice and a wintergreen hint. Excellent balance and elegance, with sneaky background power and structure.
