White
2011 Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Magnum. Oddly seemed pleasant enough, but shut down and inaccessible, nowhere near the great level of the other times I've had this wine. Perhaps 89-90 points tonight, but I don't think representative.
White
1996 Peter Michael Chardonnay Cuvée Indigene USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
90 points
From magnum. Still very nice with fruit more mature than fresh, but good concentration and nuanced flavors. But certainly better 5 years ago, most likely better yet 10 years ago.
White
2007 Peter Michael Chardonnay La Carrière USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
I can see why people enjoy this tasty wine, but i find it slightly too tropical with more than a faint note of heat dominating the finish.
White - Off-dry
2005 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
92 points
Apricot, baked apple and slightly more tropical than I'd typically expect from Dönnhoff Spätlese. Very good length and concentration. Moderately sweet on its own, but less noticeably sweet with food. Good now, most likely with further upside from here.

2008 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon "Old Sparky" Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
So massive and hedonistic that I really didn't want to enjoy. But so tasty, I had to enjoy. While this isn't the wine I would buy at its market value, it is incredibly well done in its style.
Red
2008 Herb Lamb Cabernet Sauvignon HL USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Ripe black fruit with savory and sweet spice aromas. Palate also starts nicely, then slightly hollow middle, but with a good finish. Good for now.

2001 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Barnyardy and seemingly quite old and tired. If served blind, I'd have thought 10-20 yeas older. Not for me.

2003 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
89 points
Charming nose with moderately mature black fruit, black pepper, subtle spice. Less exciting flavors are similar but showing less depth and nuance. Moderate length. Good for now.

1961 Domaine Château De La Tour Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Ullage 5-6 cm, but color was good, so expectations were mixed. Musty and earthy to start with red fruit remnants that never really came together as a complete old wine.
Red
1961 Morin Pere et fils Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
95 points
Ullage 3-3.5 cm. Popped and poured. Mature black fruit with slightly sweet notes of age, but I'd never have thought this 50+ yo if served blind. I think this was almost everybody's WOTN. Exactly what you want in an old Burg.

flawed
Corked.

2008 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
The decant helped a little, coaxing out floral and red berry aromas with wonderful spice. Little flavor could be coaxed out, however. Great potential (93-95 points?), but nowhere near ready. 2023 forward? 2028?

1991 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain
92 points
Dense black fruit with dark chocolate and tobacco. Very dense, chewy, meaty with a wonderful sense of restrain and overall balance. Very enjoyable in a Bordelais fashion.
Red
2011 Sine Qua Non Syrah Patine Eleven Confessions Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
95 points
Indulgent aromatic start with black plum and cherry plus sweet baking spice. Identical on palate with very impressive balance already.

2000 Château Smith Haut Lafitte France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
88 points
Nice enough and correctly mature for its age/youth, but less concentration or simple fruit tastiness than I'd expect, or even vs another bottle tasted blind last year. Off bottle?

2005 Betz Family Le Parrain USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
88 points
Popped and poured. Fat black fruit aromas with some new oak still not fully absorbed. Nicely enjoyable flavors with lots of ripe fruit and sweet spice, a hint more restraint.

1999 Penfolds Grange Australia, South Australia
Lots of black fruit and spice, but also lots of pronounced new oak. Much better with food than on its own, I like the potential here, but don't think it a particularly great vintage for Grange.
