Flight 1 (8 notes)

White
2008 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune France, Alsace
91 points
Intense nose of yellow flowers and ripe yellow fruits. Dusty minerality with huge acidity and very long, somewhat hot finish. Dense pulp of white stonefruits, also quince, tart fruits and small yellow plums on the palate. It was young, with huge upwards potential, but also very enjoyable already now. (91+)
White
1996 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune France, Alsace
93 points
Full bodied, ripe and mature full throttle character of Alsace. There's this peculiar note of marinated mushrooms and pickle. Rich wine with lovely complexity. Softer, bigger, rounder and wider than '08, but the accidity is still huge here. There's white truffle and baked apples on the nose. Creamy palate that is followed by the accidity. Excellent wine.
White
2013 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling France, Alsace
83 points
Typical nose of "natural" or biodinamic wine - and bad at that. Sauerkraut and VA. There's almost some petillance on the palate and some not so well balanced sweetness. To be enjoyed with food, not by itself.

White
2011 Josmeyer Riesling Brand France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
88 points
Initially a bit closed nose of petrol. Well balanced, juicy fruits, friendly wine with - it seemed to me - elevated alcohol. Well made and nice.
White
2011 Josmeyer Riesling Hengst France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
88 points
Similar to Brandm but a bit bigger and with lower accidity. With time develops pleasant vanilla notes.
White
1996 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile France, Alsace
flawed
Slightly corked magnum.
Palate was still nice and enjoyable - cncentrated, intense, even a bit edgy. Still very present accidity - unripe fruits and yellow flowers. Milky texture.

Rich and full bodied. Clean, with lovely, precise, lively accidity.
White - Off-dry
1983 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile Vendanges Tardives France, Alsace
93 points
A complex nose of white brad crust, toasted bread, dried apricots and spices. There's also pepper on the nose and palate that makes the wine more concentrated and hot. A nice, mature, concentrated dry white wine. There's a side of lively, sweet fruity notes to this wine as well. Excellent.
