Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
2011 Castello Vicchiomaggio Chianti Classico Agostino Petri Riserva Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
86 points
Deep, clear red. Pure cherry on the nose, a bit jammy. Spices and herbs.
A bit shy on the palate. Candy fruit. High acidity, good amount of tannings. Surprisingly light body, and a bit green style.
Should try one more bottle before I make a final judgement.
Red
2013 Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Italy, Tuscany, Montepulciano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
88 points
Relatively light red. Some oak, red berries and herbs on the nose. A good amount of oak and red berried on the palate as well. Quite high acidity. Relatively light body. International style. Hold for 3-5 years.
Red
2011 Tenuta Col d'Orcia Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
91 points
Relatively light red. Red berries/cherry, some barnyard, sweet oak/cinnamon. Juicy, with pure, red fruit. Good acidity, nice tannins. The alcohol is well integrated. Better than expected.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2007 La Rioja Alta Rioja Viña Ardanza Reserva Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
88 points
Dark and tight color. Sweet oak - cinnamon and vanilla on the nose. Even some red berries as well :-) Fullbodied, nice complexity, high acidity, noticeable wooden tannins in the finish.
Great potential if the oak gets better integrated.
