2006 Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne France, Champagne

Small glass, brief note. Lots of citrus throughout with toasted brioche and yeast background character. Very long and powerful with lots of mineral and acidity giving a dancing note on finish.

2011 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Lots of lemon peel, some apple. Enchanting aromas, slightly firm palate is good now with upside from here. Not quite as exciting as previous bottles.

2014 Domaine Fourrier Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vougeot 1er Cru
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Ripe red fruit aromas and flavors. Particularly ripe nose. Some structural notes need a few years to soften on finish, but I really like the potential from after 2020.
White - Sparkling
2008 Jérôme Prévost Champagne La Closerie Extra Brut Les Beguines France, Champagne
Small glass, brief note. Very powerful and full bodied, even if not my style of Champagne, both in terms of dosage and oxidative character. Meunière.

Small glass, brief note. Very backward even though not reduced. Moderately ripe apple dominates. Cellar for longer.

Ripe apple, fully and nicely mature. Good concentration and nicely elegant. Very good weight, seemingly Grand Cru density to me. Kept getting better and better for at least an hour.

2005 Château La Mission Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Small glass, brief note. Double decanted two hours earlier. Black and extremely concentrated. Still backward, but unfolding in fascinating ways through long finish. Maybe not lots of pleasure right now, but the potential is exciting.

Small glass, brief note. Great red fruit cross-section, shockingly accessible. Bit more firm middle to finish, but incredibly charming. Very long finish. Great now, even greater potential.

1996 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Small glass, brief note. Decanted an hour. Clearly great concentration, great potential. Very black and supported with wonderful spice and structure. Mid-90s potential, but I'd say 2025 forward (or decant much longer).
White
2009 Henri Germain et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

Small glass, brief note. Ripe and rich with moderate weight and finesse. Good for now.

2009 Marc Colin et Fils Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
94 points
Small glass, brief note. I was almost thrown off by the initial (tropical) ripeness, but this a wine of great concentration with acidity and minerality contributing great complexity as well. Delicious and interesting. A great 2009.

1989 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
91 points
Served in 89/90/91 vertical, tasted multiple times over 3 hours. Each wine was the favorite of at least two people at our table! Wonderfully mature with lots of evolved black fruit with excellent concentration. This popped-and-poured and probably best after open 30 minutes, then less interesting 2 hours later.

1990 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
93 points
Served in 89/90/91 vertical, tasted multiple times over 3 hours. Each wine was the favorite of at least two people at our table! This was open an hour+ before serving. Clearly the most ripe and massive of the vertical. Lots of structure that is close to fully resolved. This was my favorite of the flight, even though I don't quite think it has yet reached it absolute full potential.

1991 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
92 points
Served in 89/90/91 vertical, tasted multiple times over 3 hours. Each wine was the favorite of at least two people at our table! Started a little musty, but this nicely freshened and lengthened within 30 minutes. Started as my least favorite of the flight but ended just behind the 1990. Perhaps less classically "Corton" in its structure and concentration, but this represents the 1991 vintage's elegance perfectly.

2002 Louis Jadot Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
96 points
Small glass, brief note. Open several hours before I tasted. All red fruit with subtle spice. Musigny at its finest with so much elegance, then finishing with impressive concentration and depth. Almost identical to another bottle from a few weeks back.

2007 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Small glass, brief note. Great floral start. Starts with rich lemon and lemon custard, then finishes with somewhat greater tension and precision. At its peak.

2010 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Lake USA, California, Napa Valley, Diamond Mountain

Small glass, brief note. Black currants, cassis with meaty and some leather notes. Very good spice. Great balance.

1998 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
92 points
Popped-and-poured. Red and black fruit. Meaty and concentrated. Quite this is still very firm, it is finally pleasurable after an awkward decade of seeming much too closed. I will still hold my bottles to 2020 or later.
