Flight 1 (4 notes)
White
2003 Domaine Yvon et Pascal Tabordet Pouilly-Fumé
France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé
Ouch. Lost them in the Cellar and I dont think I am better off for it. Fruit had dropped out. What remained was nice enough for starters. Minerals and a gravelly. cleansing palate presence.
Rosé
2005 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Rosé
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
This is not a complex, thought provoking wine. This is rich, and decadent for a rose without being cloying or serious. Super juicy and worked well with the APPs
Red
2001 Ojai Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard
USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands
Bigger and Darker than I expected. Pair accordingly. Ripe fruit, charred cedar, some tannins still present. I think this might get better. 91+
Flight 2 (5 notes)
(9) Bucatini Amatriciana (pasta with tomato and giuanciale)
(10) Grilled Leg of Lamb (Butterflied, Boneless with Rosemary, Garlic and wrapped in Lardo)
(11) Salsicce, Kale and Cannellini
(12) Grilled Zucchini, Grilled Squash and steamed Beets (each mixed separately in a Garlic, Lemon sauce)
Red
1990 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Napa Valley
USA, California, Napa Valley
Cork broke apart. But Brian did a great rescue job. Definitely aged both in color and palate presence. But still doing well in the first 45min of being opened. Tobacco, some charcoal, and some mediterranean herbs (or am I picking up the lamb roasting:)
Red
2005 Glaetzer Shiraz Amon-Ra Barossa Valley
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Extraordinary showing. Has everything in spades. Incredibly rich and sexy. Sweet, plush palate but some Horsepower also. Great Balance. Drank with an hour+ of air. So good now, hard to imagine it getting better with much age. And I dont think I'm going to let the majority of my bottles make the journey to find out.
Flight 3 (1 note)
13) Biscotti Pazzo
(14) Lemon Torte with Blueberries
Espressi/Limoncello/Anisette
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
This was really crushing tonight. Accompanied the Biscotti Pazzo and the Lemon Tort to perfection. Liquid Velvet. Fat and Juicy. Pineapple, apricots. Huge flavor with huge hangtime.
