White - Sparkling
1998 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Cuvée Creation France, Champagne

A real full and polished nose that is still quite fresh with ripe apple. The palate is round and rich with prominent barrel notes. Acids here are light but sufficient to keep the palate fresh. Mouthing-coating and voluminous. A super enjoyable and mature Champagne.
White
2011 Vincent Dancer Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tête du Clos France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

A fair bit of reduction in the nose. Behind the big matchstick note, some crisp white fruit and mineral is trying to poke out. The palate is less reduced and features nice chalky white fruit. There is nice pure crystalline quality with a lifted, intense finish.
White
2013 Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Blanc Clos des Carmes Brézé France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur
93 points
Full, lifted nose of rich orchard fruits, tropical fruits and some mineral --- but none of those typical Chenin wooly notes. Fairly rich and generous while also sporting racy acids. Really excellent tension despite the size. Taut, steely finish. Very well done.

1996 Thomas Pinot Noir Willamette Valley USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

A seriously wow Pinot. The nose is endless with layers of dried and fresh fruit across the black and red cherry spectrum made complex by truffle, underbrush and dried herb notes. Texturally beguiling with power in an ethereal frame. The fruit is still fresh and lithe across the palate. Layers of flavor, accented by baking spice in the finish. So, so good. A testament to classic winemaking and good dirt.

1985 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage

A sexy, old school, layered nose with dried smoky black fruit, old leather, band-aid and dried herbs. The palate is quite fresh with still-sweet and smooth fruit, a welcome surprise for 30+ year old Crozes. Nice layering and intensity in the finish. Terrific.
Red
1990 Giacomo Brezza e Figli Barolo Cannubi Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Crazy that this is the first bottle with a TN on CT. A classic Barolo in every way. Full, aromatic nose with dried black cherry, licorice, herb, dried flowers and spice. Delicious palate with concentrated plum and black cherry with balsamic. Quite fresh. Tannins are suave but still grippy. In a great spot with plenty of room to go.
Red
2008 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Cannubi San Lorenzo Ravera Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

A gorgeous, young Barolo. Full, raw nose with fresh black cherry, sweat, new leather, spice, fennel and fresh florals. The palate is youthfully exuberant but well-proportioned and drinking well. Tannins are youthfully coarse, but the opulent fruit provides a good counter balance. Fun to drink now, but the best days are ahead. Upside from here.
