Introduction
Ancarani's family is probably one of the best host in Romagna.
We passed a few hours with Rita (on her birthday!!), tasting almost the complete range of their production. They also delayed the harvest by one day to let us walk in a perfect vineyard!! (despite the drought).
Flight 1 - White wines (5 notes)
We also tasted a Santa Lusa 2015 (just bottled) and 2016 (from barrel), too young to be judged....also if 2015 will be great...
And a rare 2012 (not cooled)...just impressive.
Nice and complex at nose, citrine and medlar notes; mineral (gypsum) and yeast hints.
Dry, slightly sparkling, showing a good acidity and minerality, driving to the closure.
Fine, fruity nose, almost aromatic: ripe fruits and lemon; pineapple.
Lingering mouth, with a good acidity and important minerality. Less fruity, a bit unbalanced, with a "salty" ending.
Delicate at nose. Fine, with notes of aromatic herbs and orange fruit.
Dry, with a good acidity and minerality. Well balanced, but with a faded fruit. 10% Trebbiano
Rich, complex and fine at nose: fruity and floreal; ripe pears, chamomile and acacia.
Dry and alcoholic, medium structure, but with a nice fruit and a vivid minerality. AiS 2017: 89/90
Intense and fine at nose; complex. Dried fruits, fighs, medlar. Glicerine and a sweet note of chestnut's honey.
Dry, alcoholic, with a important structure and a nice fruit.
An opulent wine. Important minerality.
Closing
We were impressed both by wines and the passion the Ancaranis instill in their work.
We also tasted a lot of red wines...but was too late for a professional tasting report....
