White
2014 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay California USA, California
Medium straw color, weak aroma intensity but shows some age. Butter, green apple and oak on the nose. Moderate finish, overall well balanced and a good value.
Rosé
2013 Sutter Home Winery White Zinfandel California USA, California
medium salmon color, weak aroma, smells like ripe strawberry and roses. Sweet, medium body, flabby acidity. Tastes like watermelon jolly ranchers. I hope this isn't what I'm into 40+ years from now.
Rosé
2015 Bedrock Wine Co. Ode to Lulu Old Vine Rosé USA, California
Medium salmon color, moderate-weak aromas of lemon and tart cherry. Off-dry, with light body and lively acidity. On the palette, sour grapefruit. A little tart on acidity and flavor.
Red
2015 Boen Wines Pinot Noir USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Deep garnet color, moderate aroma intensity. Shows some age, with notes of moss/sweet fern, a little smoke, and tart blackberry. Dry, with light body and fresh acidity. Moderate, soft tannins and flavors of tart cherry, cloves, and cedar. Moderate finish. Could have used a bit more backbone of acidity for my palette!
Red
2014 Idlewild Barbera Fox Hill Vineyard USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino
Medium garnet, moderate aroma intensity showing some age: notes of plum, oak. Dry, with medium body, lively acidity, and moderately weak, soft tannins. Flavors of cranberry-rasberry. Well balanced, and long finish.
Red
2013 Robert Hall Meritage Hall Ranch USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles
deep ruby color, moderate aroma intensity showing some age. Earty notes, warm spices like cinnamon, and a hint of green pepper. Dry, medium bodied and lively acidity. Moderately strong, astringent tannins. Wonder if it might benefit from further aging/decanting?
