The tasting began with a pour of this champagne. It was light and tasty, with small, elegant bubbles and some proper toast.

And then the food guy handed me a grilled lamb chop. Turns out, this is not a great pairing! (Who knew?). I was so distracted by the lamb chop I didn’t get the year disgorged.

I was in love with this wine. The nose was intoxicating and drew me in.. Taste of Mandarin orange, tangerine, lots of honeysuckle, pomello, vanilla, ginger and spice. Lengthy finish that goes on and on.

Worth the tariff. Will be interesting to age, too.

I guess I am a hard grader - or maybe I just think this wine needs lots of time in the bottle. The nose was more reticent than the Ygrec that preceded it, with notes of lime, pear and a little flower. Better taste of lovely pineapple, apple, some tropical fruit and honey and spice on the finish. It was decanted for over 2 hours beforehand -- and probably needed a 24-hour decant, IMHO.

Sterling described this wine as “an angry toddler”; Neal Martin said the wine was “feral”. I imagine I would like it better with 10 years of bottle age. To me it was outshown by the Ygrec before it. Expensive for $600-700.

Fruit-forward, approachable. Apple, pear, mineral, maybe a little hazelnut. Would have been better to try this wine first - or with the lobster rolls. I thought Sterling said it was $50 but the pricing seems to be $90 or so.

Vibrant, upfront fruits with notes of apple, pear, tropical fruits, spice and minerality with some spice on the finish. Very good acidiy.much better with age. Decanted for over 2 hours.

Orange, tangerine, pineapple, honey and a little spice on the finish. Tasty now but will be terrific with 10+ years of bottle age.
