Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2015 Francois Carillon Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet

High toned with lots of sleek orchard fruit. Lots of acid and moderate depth here. Simpler.
Red
2014 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Monthélie 1er Cru Les Duresses France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Monthélie 1er Cru
90 points
Pretty black cherry, musk and floral aromas -- not the most profound nose, but super attractive. Palate is lighter and very juicy. Pretty and elegant.
Red
2001 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
90 points
Classic NSG nose of earthy, tarry black cherry and plum. You can almost smell the chewiness. Palate has moderate concentration. Rustic with some fairly brawny structure and lighter fruit. Feels like this needs more time. Upside as the fruit fills out and structure mellows.
Rosé - Sparkling
1996 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon Rosé France, Champagne
95 points
Wow, gorgeous, full nose of baked cherry pie and pie crust. Great power and energy in the palate. Loads of dry extract on the mid-palate. With all the power and punch, this is quite balanced and precise. Terrific.
Red
2010 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Fonteny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
91 points
Ripe black cherry nose with good meaty and light wood notes. Really nice rich silky texture. Rich fruit with good stem notes. More toasty than I would have guessed but suspect it will integrate.
Red
2015 Pierre Gonon Ardèche Les Iles Feray France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Ardèche
91 points
Big saline, olive brine black fruit. Stuffed with pure black fruit. High on the delicious factor, if a bit simple.
