White
2011 Soliste Cellars Sauvignon Blanc St Andelain USA, California, Sonoma County
90 points
Lemon, lemon curd and some freshly cut grass. Nicely rich fruit throughout stands up to very bright acidity. Good now, this will certainly last for years.
White
2000 J.M. Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Canet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
flawed
Moderately oxidized.
White
2008 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
flawed
Surprisingly advanced for the vintage. Oxidized or heat damaged? A real disappointment.
White
1998 Maison Leroy Meursault France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
flawed
You wouldn't expect 20 yo Villages wine from this vintage to still be drinking well. You'd be right.
White
2008 Varner Chardonnay Spring Ridge Vineyard Bee Block USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains
Certainly getting tired.
White
2007 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
90 points
Lemon, lemon peel and green apple with so much acidity and minerality with very good length, good weight. Very good now through the next 5 years.
White
2012 Aubert Chardonnay UV-SL Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
92 points
Lots of ripe stone fruit with a marzipan hint. Very good richness and concentration, moderate structure and finesse. Probably best to enjoy on the younger side.
Red
2003 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Combe des Fous France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
flawed
Moderately oxidized.
Red
2010 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Completely off balance and out-of-center. Acidity very pronounced. Was there a hint of VA?
Red
2011 Pandora Cellars Red USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Massive wine in almost all respects. Ripe, powerful, jammy with sweet and oaky spice. But not particularly elegant or balanced.
Red
2002 Pax Syrah Walker Vine Hill USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
90 points
Clearly riper styled but nicely dense and able to maintain enough balance to be charming and elegant. Best to enjoy near-term.
Red
2003 Pax Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
93 points
Black cherry and plum with black and white pepper and allspice. Still nicely fresh and powerful. Still showing wonderful "Côte-Rôtie" character. Best showing for this wine for the last 3-4 years.
Red
1996 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red USA, California, Napa Valley
93 points
Black plum and black cherry with slightly sweet spice and really wonderful harmony. Fresh and bright with the structure just slightly in the background. Very good concentration and length. Wonderful right now, no rush to drink up.

2016 Cruse Wine Company Syrah Heintz Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Ripe and extremely fun with intriguing spice, just too jammy, sweet and precocious for now.

2011 Fisher Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Coach Insignia USA, California, Napa Valley
88 points
Dried black and red cherries with anise and allspice. Fresh, bright and enjoyable for the near-term. Moderate weight and length, good balance.
Red
2010 Rhys Syrah Skyline Vineyard USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
Roasted meat with black cherry and berry in front of some licorice. Had an elegant Northern Rhone character with a long finish. Seemed younger than a 2010 Cali, and this has upside from here.
Red
1995 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
89 points
Fine cross-section of mature black fruit with good weight and length. Background licorice and cigarbox. Good now.

2003 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

From magnum. Ripe, dense and nicely mature. Holding up so much better vs last time tried (from 750) a few months ago.
Red
2011 Sine Qua Non Syrah Dark Blossom USA, California, Central Coast
93 points
Rich and ripe black currant and cherry with some liqueur hints. Great spice is mostly sweet with mostly integrated new oak. Much more balanced and integrated vs when last tried in 2015, this will still most certainly get better as it softens further.
