Introduction

Another great couple moves away... We counter with a night of hedonism!

Flight 1 - Opener (1 note)

Served with: Osetra, Sevruga and Kaluga Caviar Taster Set
by Markys

White - Sparkling
2005 Argyle Extended Tirage Brut USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Even more elegant than I remember. Citrus, green apple, toast, saline, and pear notes are deep and linger. Osetra won in the caviar match up. Lots of time.

Flight 2 - The Reds (2 notes)

The CdP went nicely with: Fresh Black Summer Truffles from Italy
The Bordeaux was great with charcuterie and cheeses.

Red
2004 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

This keeps getting better for me! Last one almost 3 years ago. Very smooth texture stands out first. Kirsch, plum, anise, iodine/kelp, garrigue, and leather go on and on. Now-2024.
Red
2003 Château Troplong Mondot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

We're working our way back in years in this "event" but the score stays the same! Another great bottle with cassis, plum, mocha, cigar, and graphite. Tannins are mellowing. Really nice with the sheep gouda. Now-2023.

Flight 3 - Dessert (1 note)

Paired with some: Duck Foie Gras - Micuit / Ready to Eat, En Torchon, by Rougie

White - Sweet/Dessert
1989 Château Suduiraut France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
91 points
From 375ml (unlike BSA's cool 735! A Boeing bottle? Nope! It was a BMW bottle!). Cork was perfect. This was not a disappointment after the great wines before it. It's great to have a wedding year wine any time and the match with foie gras pate was outstanding. Apricot, dried pineapple, fig, caramel, and a floral note. Nice balance and length.

Back to the kitchen and oh, wait! Chocolate truffles?! Great! See you guys in Portland or the Ten year tasting!
