Long time Lodi winegrowers that just opened their tasting room. Zinfandel is the flagship and they have 40 acres of solid Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel.

Flight 1 (7 notes)

In a big barrel ferment style nice but a bit short on acid balance. Tasted a four vintage vertical and this was a decent first effort.

A step above the 2014, better balance. Nose is mostly yeast and evolved oak.

Going back into the direction of the 2014, needs more acid.
White
2017 McKenzie Vineyards & Winery Sauvignon Blanc USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi
84 points
A bit too high in alcohol and short on acidity, but the winemaking after that was right. Needs to harvest earlier.
Red
2014 McKenzie Vineyards & Winery Zinfandel Zins of Our Father USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi
85 points
Nice but a bit hot and out of balance, I focused more on the 2015 vintage which is the current release.

The flagship wine of this winery and a nice effort. Despite 15.2% it is not hot or sweet. More in the Lodi Native style, it is black tea, spice and berry. Full bodied with just enough tannin for accent, this is Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel.

Best of the four vintages, good balance and some citrus fruit beyond the evolved oak and yeast. The winemaking on all four vintages is good but this one starts to show a bit more.
