White - Sparkling
1999 Philipponnat Champagne Brut Clos des Goisses France, Champagne
92 points
Very densely concentrated for its age, lots of gracefully maturing orchard fruit with broad shoulders. No hurry to drink up.

Rosé - Sparkling
2010 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier Rubis France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
92 points
Came across as very Pinot Noir in aromas, flavors and textures. Red berries, cranberry, some tangerine skin with soft textures and a very long finish. Good now, probably better in a few more years.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

White
1999 Albert Grivault Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
flawed
Slightly corked
White
2009 Pierre Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
91 points
Still nicely fresh for the vintage, with
Lots of ripe apple aromas and flavors. Not the most nuanced vintage for this terroir, but certainly very good depth and length.

Flight 3 (3 notes)

White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
93 points
In 09/11/12 vertical. Ripe orchard fruit with slightly sweet spice. Very dense concentration, very good length. The rare 2009 white Burgundy getting better with age.

White
2012 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
93 points
In 09/11/12 vertical. Apple and pear with background stone fruit. As ripe as the 2009 with even more concentration. Lots of backbone and energy through very long finish. Still a juvenile.

In 09/11/12 vertical. Wonderfully fragrant, great spice and floral start. Apple and pear with good weight, elegant textures and lots of charm. More delicate vs 09 or 12, but equally interesting.

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
1999 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
93 points
In great Ruchottes-Chambertin flight. So much red fruit with black cherry hints, with enticing spice box. Started out a little flat, but freshened and brightened up quickly in glass. Perfect balance and very good length by the time we were done.
Red
1999 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Ruchottes-Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
94 points
In great Ruchottes-Chambertin flight. Black fruit with lots of slowly braised Boeuf Bourguignon and corresponding spice. Very good density and balance, good+ length. My favorite if the flight for today, most others also put this atop the flight.
Red
2002 Michel Bonnefond Ruchottes-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
93 points
In great Ruchottes-Chambertin flight. Youngest of the flight, and easily the most backward. Black and red cherry with a compact middle and elegant textural finish with firm fruit and savory spice. Would have benefited from more air and/ or cellar time, as with all 2002 Roumier.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Domaine Duroché Latricières-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru
Mature and ripe black fruit that didn’t quite show Grand Cru density or complexity. Good when first outed, this got more tired with more time in the glass.
Red
2002 Domaine Fourrier Griotte-Chambertin Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
93 points
Textbook Griotte - black and red fruit with both weight and elegance. Complex combination of fruit, spice and faint earth notes, while still nicely bright and fresh.
