White - Sparkling
2011 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut
80 points
Grabbed one of these to see whether I would enjoy Roederer wines. I do not. This wine, although young, is much too sweet for a Brut. I suspect improper dosage as the sugar was not fully fermented.

2002 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett

A really outstanding wine. Perfectly balanced with light white fruits, slate, and a touch of sweetness. The acidity is just at the right level to complete this wine.
White - Off-dry
1989 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Goldert Vendange Tardive

A tremendous wine that performed like the last bottle promised but fell short of. This bottle had mild sweetness combined with white fruits, especially apricot and a pleasantly long finish.
Red
2002 AR.PE.PE. Valtellina Superiore - Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse
92 points
A really enjoyable wine that is entering its drinking window now. Classic nebbiolo characteristics with plenty of acid and red fruits.
Red
2000 Château Lagrezette Cahors Le Pigeonnier

Blind, I would have guessed Bordeaux. This is a really interesting Malbec that shows what the grape can be. Dark red fruits and some oak influence. Drink or hold.
White - Off-dry
1991 Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl Vendange Tardive

This bottle was leaking after shipping so it was the first to be opened. Honey, apricot, peach and botrytis play well together. I'm looking forward to the pristine bottles...
White - Off-dry
1989 Zind-Humbrecht Tokay Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal Vendange Tardive

A really impressive wine that suffered only from being at the end of a long evening. Still, this demanded my attention. Honey and flowers with significant sweetness that was well balanced by serious acidity.
