White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Edition 166eme France, Champagne
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Lots of apple, nicely ripe and rich with lemon curd and toasted rye bread from middle through finish. Very good now, with some upside from here.
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Ruinart Champagne Brut Rosé France, Champagne
88 points
Tasting, brief note. Apple and pear with good weight, length and textures. Current release. I enjoyed this tonight, but typically find it more robust.

White
2011 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Reductive character made it tough to assess, but this seemed simpler than I recall from before. Probably best to enjoy in the near-term.

White
2013 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Fleshy with good weight and enticing combination of tropical fruit with peach and apple. Riper start well complemented with a more elegant minerally finish with good length. Certainly good now, probably with upside from here.
White
2013 Maison Alex Gambal Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
90 points
Tasting, brief note. Nicely floral and very pretty. Good weight, moderate complexity. Perhaps just borderline Grand Cru density, but certainly very tasty.
White
2014 Domaine des Malandes Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
92 points
Tasting, brief note. From magnum. One of my favorites of the tasting. Rich and opulent start for Chablis with good weight and intensity. Riper apple to start, then leaner and greener orchard fruit towards very long finish. Very good already.
White

93 points
Tasting from 3L, brief note. Enticing combination of orchard fruit with floral and spice notes in great harmony, with toasted hazelnut hints. Weightless while powerful, with very elegant textures. Already great tonight, with upside.

Red
1999 Domaine A.-F. Gros Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
Tasting, brief note. Pale red fruit, fully mature, with good length and sneaky structure. Faint spice and more earth. Good Villages level wine.
Red
2014 Domaine Château De La Tour Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Slightly more black vs red fruit with lots of tannins and very impressive length, even if somewhat brooding at present. Slightly more forthcoming when tasted a 2nd time two hours later. 92+ point potential.
Red
2012 Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Whole lot of red and black berries start-to-finish with milk chocolate and savory spice. Very elegant and charming right now, while easily able to drink well for a decade+. Much preferred this '12 over both '13s.

Red
2013 Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Tasting, brief note. Powerful and elegant, this comes across as leaner and more cerebral vs the 2012, but just not as fun.

Red
2013 Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Ragnaie V.V. Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Tasting, brief note. Red cherry with savory spice. More density and substance vs the regular cuvee, but also more backward and brooding. Probably needs a decade in the cellar.
Red
2006 Le Piane Boca Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Boca
Tasting, brief note. Rugged and slightly brutish to me, especially as fruit is getting older. Better younger?

2012 Le Piane Boca Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Boca
88 points
Tasting, brief note. Big step up for me over the 2006. Black cherry, anise and plenty of tannins. Also a bit rugged, but with the substance to match. Better to cellar another year or two.
Red
2013 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
Tasting, brief note. Ultra modern, ultra ripe. Not my preferred style of wine.
Red
2013 Bodega Numanthia Toro Termanthia Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
Tasting, brief note. Also very modern, oaky and ultra ripe, but plenty of concentration and substance to keep this interesting. Still, not my style of wine.
Red
2014 Cheval des Andes Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo, Vistalba
91 points
Tasting, brief note. Black and blue fruit with anise, mint and thyme. Very good balance and length, showing an Old World sensibility. Mostly Malbec.

Red
2014 Pinea Ribera del Duero Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
90 points
Tasting, brief note. Black cherry with a complex spicebox. Much too young right now, but the density and substance to age to a graceful place in a few years.
Red
2007 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
Tasting, brief note. My first time trying this vintage. Delicately floral with red and black currant, tobacco and licorice. Moderate weight vs other vintages of Unico, but very elegant balance and impressive length. Surprisingly accessible already. For now, I'd think this "92 points" based on this limited taste, but certainly upside from here.

Tasting, brief note. Black cherry, leather and earth. Very fully mature, time to drink up soon.
Red
2010 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
92 points
Tasting, brief note. Old school character in the best possible terms. Roasted meat with black cherry, licorice and clove. Still lots of tannins, but they are getting to be very elegant and wonderfully integrated. Very good length. Getting close to its peak drinking window, best 2020-2035?

Red
1999 Delas Frères Côte-Rôtie La Landonne France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
Tasting, brief note. An odd bottle. Lots of roasted meat and weight, but both fresh and mature fruit was less evident. Components didn't seem harmonious. Others agreed it seemed imperfect, but no specific flaw could be accurately identified.

Tasting, brief note. More earth and mushroom than remaining fruit, but an old school style that works nicely. Good weight, better length, showing finesse. Drink up.
Red

Tasting, brief note. Clearly ripe with good weight and length, but simpler than I hoped.
Red
2009 Château Lascombes France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
Tasting, brief note. Ripe black fruit dominates. Nicely big and flat, but little else would emerge in this quick tasting. 89 points tonight, but is that representative?
Red
2003 Château Pavie France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
Tasting from magnum, brief note. Very ripe and somewhat jammy, but clearly well balanced with very good length and even better length. Exceeded my expectations given vintage and Pavie style.
Red

Red
2016 DuMOL Pinot Noir Wester Reach Russian River Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Tasting, brief note. Prototypical RRV Pinot Noir with ripe blackish cherry and lots of cherry cola. Good richness, a bit sweet on long finish. Well done in its style.
Red

Tasting, brief note. A well made Parker wine at its price, not even close to my preferred style.
Red
2016 Cade Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
