Dirk already described the wine perfectly, I only had one glass on day 3(?) after opening and the last cut was missing but nevertheless a very nice Grünhaus. I personally didn´t identified the wine as Grünhaus right away but with some more time in the glass the typical aromas developed.

Popped and poured, next time I would decant it 100% because the wine needs a lot of air. At the beginning more "dark" aromas of caramel, cold smoke and ripe yellow fruit on the nose. But the wine steadily developed some new notes with more time and air in the glass like wet stone, herbs and tobacco. A fascinating and very complex nose. On the palate ripe but elegant. The acidity is beautiful integrated into the wine but still very lively. The wine gets better and better over time. Very energetic, vibrant and with a mineral kick. Good amount of power and a lovely citurs kick on the long, long finish. A very impressive wine for me. Still fairly young.

On the nose a mix of plum, rum pot, raisins, amarena cherry, a bit of cinnamon and a hint of brett. Not my personal favourite flavour profile. On the palate like Dirk already mentioned very salty which is kind of interesting. The acidity is on a good level, although you can feel a bit of heat on the back end. I would drink it slightly chilled as the alcohol isn´t that superficial then. Good quality but not my style.

My birth vintage, so I was a bit more excited than normal as we opened the bottle. On the nose you get the Grünhaus aroma Profil, but the herbal aspect is by far not as upfront, as I experienced it with other (cooler) vintages. You have more apricot, dried apricot, tangerin, black tea and a certain depth with more dark, earthy components. On the palate the wine needs a bit to fully develope. A very fine, lean (more like a Spätlese) and harmonic showing but not having the punch, vibrancy or the edge to be on the very top of my Grünhaus experiences. If you have some bottles left in you cellar I would drink them in the next 5 years.

1990 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 96 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
flawed
Dirk already descriped the wine perfectly. The palate was everything I want from a Grünhaus cask Auslese. So fresh, vibrant and racy. Wow, just wow. If you can find a perfect stored bottle of this wine it will be a cask Auslese close to perfection. 1990 is a very special vintage at Grünhaus. All the wines I´ve had were very, very good. No rating from me here.

Also a hint of cork here, what a pitty! On the nose more ripe apricot and a bit of Earl Grey with a bit of citrus. On the palate intensive, the acidity is well integrated into the wine but by far not as light as the 1990. No Rating.
