Lunch was BBQ Tritip, Pesto Penne and Grilled Vegetables. Sat with retired Gallo group and some other Sonoma winemakers. Long conversation on good mid range Pinots.

Awful, VA, Brett, tannic; beyond flawed as I tried two bottles.

Standard California Chardonnay, oaky, ripe, sweet, close to being acid balanced but not special or particularly speaking of Napa fruit. Okay

Starting to show its age and a bit alcoholic, but decent effort. Okay to drink but with other 2018's in the market I would not recommend buying.

Solid Pinot Noir, good benchmark wine for quality in the $15-$20 price range. Nice character, the spice from barrel aging is properly integrated, great balance and finish. Speaks more of solid varietal character than appellation, but for the dollar a real value.
