Introduction
My first visit to this Weingut.
The weather a little cloudy but warm, later on nearly hot. A beginning summer day.
What can be better as to taste some fine Whites?
I tried most of the white portfolio, but missed the reds.
For me KPK is among the FIVE best estates for Riesling, in his case dry Riesling!
We all were warmly welcomed by Julia Keller. The tasting was divided into spaces of burgundy grape bootlings, classic KPK bottlings and the sweet section in the pavillon of their garden.
Very well organized, with a lot of helpful hands from abroad. I really did like the relaxed atmosphere!
Flight 1 - KPK non Riesling-bottlings (9 notes)
I tried all of them in one row. Not to get confused with some of the dry Rieslings.

2018 Weingut Keller Weißer Burgunder Trocken
Very surprised to recognize, that KPK has managed to ferment most of his bottlings with about an ABV of 12%,
this one as well, lightbodied, refreshing, good white and yellow fruit, vivacious long, *(*-***), very good QPR, 10,50€ per bottle

2018 Weingut Keller Grauer Burgunder Trocken
Next burgundy grape bottling: more floral than the Weißburgunder but always on the fresh and energetic side of white wine, crispy, long, good+ Gutswein, *(*-***)

2018 Weingut Keller Vom Muscheligen Kalk
A cuvee of Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder, do not know the proportions, creamy, well structured, delicious flow on the midpalate, ending mineralic very long, *(**+)

This none can only be ordered in advance, there was offered a barrel sample, very shy still, but indicating enormous density, clarity and lenght, will try to get some bottles of these........, *(***-?)

Again a barrel sample, superb tightness, a little restrained, but elegant sumptuous body, long+ finish, young, very young, will need a lot of time, (****-?)

From a part of the Morstein from 25 years old grapes, very silky, the pure elegance, gentle long finish, a perfect high class summer wine, **-(***)

Tja, it is announced that every customer can buy at least three bottles of this, oh wait.... "only" 3 bottles, the pure truth!
and from the first sip you know, why this bottling is so searched for, more mineralic than most of the great franken Silvaner, this one is biting mineralic, and fresh like a bath in the atlantic ocean in march, stunning bottling, light and energetic, very long aftertaste, *(**-****-?)

2018 Weingut Keller Scheurebe Trocken
Next nearly sold out bottling, this herbal fragrance, light and refreshing, spicy, dancing on the palate with only bonedry 11,5% ABV, recommended, *(*-***)

This bottling is from the Morstein too, so this is very herbal, crispy with green fruit on the palate, would be great with food, 90(+) potential
Flight 2 - KPK and his off dry or feinherb Rieslings (4 notes)
He is not bottling that much Riesling despite his classic VDP-Grosse Lage- and his GG from Kirchspiel till Morstein.
So this von der Fels and RR are showing a great "upper entry level" QPR, 17€ is to be paid for the vdFels, a real bargain!
The a little sweeter -RR-, about 11 gr residual sugar will be perfect to pair food, I am just dreaming of a seafood masacre on a big plate.....

Unbelievable energetic, tried this one five+ times that afternoon, always the same conclusion, great complexity, still a little zesty with rich lemon, but most of the palate is on the mineralic side, stonelicking, all this tension again with only 12% ABV, great, highly recommended, for the next decade(+), *(**-****)

Again a great showing, well structured, playful, velvety elegant to be accompanied with a low ABV (12%), something like feinherb style, filigree, great flow, ending long+, will be very good with food, **(**-?), 91, 92(+) potential

Barrel sample: still a lot of fermentation aromas, but is indicating its coming greatness, some chalky aromas, all still very shy, but showing a real superb lenght, (93, 94+) potential

Barrel sample: this sample is different to the Kirchspiel, more body, some creamy approval, very fine and elegant though, peach fruit, enormous lenght though, (93-95+?) potential

We are entering the classic Riesling zone, enormous concentration, creamy stonefruit, balanced, very long, needs some more time, at least a decade(+), **(**-?), 92, 93(+) potential

This bottling shows more minerality than the Hubacker, great density, and clarity, really, really convincing, but the price tag of both Auslesen Goldkapsel, 125€ per bottle 0,375, only for KPK lovers.... ;-), 93(+) potential

KPK showed as well a selection of 3 bottlings TBA Goldkapsel, you can not buy this bottlings, this is a show rome wine to demonstrate what is possible if you really want to!

I have to correct my description, this one you can buy......, coming september at the VDP auction at Bad Kreuznach, this one has even more extract than the 09 vintage, NUTTY, caramel, raisins, if you like that with a strong buffering acidity, bid for it! 95(+) potential

This one I did like best, not this enormous concentration and extract, really fresh, showing the mineralic side, less nectar, more playful on the palate, but do not misunderstand me, again enormous density, electric long+ finish, this is my classic style! **(***) 97, 98(+) potential
